Keyboard Shortcuts for Element Actions

Support

Hello,

I tried to read through the available help/support but couldn't find an answer. Are there keyboard shortcuts to perform Element-specific actions. For example, to add an Attribute to a Class when the class is selected?

Thanks,

Ryan

Hello,

Currently, there are no default shortcut keys for adding attributes. You can assign it using Options dialog - Menu tab - search for the action in the right pane (e. g. AddAttribute) and set the shortcut keys in the textbox New in the Shortcut Keys group box below.

Another option, how to edit the class using the keyboard, is to press F2 and the Down key. You can navigate through the attributes. When you reach the last attribute and press the Down key again, it will add a new attribute. To navigate to the operations section, press Ctrl + Down.

The keyboard shortcut to navigate through and quickly add new attributes and operations is great! Thanks! This is definitely the best set of keyboard features I've seen in a UML editor so far.

As for setting the shortcut key, when I open the Options dialog (File -> Options), I see several tabs to the left: General, Save, User Profile, Diagram Editor, Format, Project Tree, E-mail, Update, Server, SharePoint, Folders, Found Settings. I don't see "Menu". I'm on the free Standard Edition right now. Could that have anything to do with it?

RE: RE:

Thank you!

I forgot to mention that Menu and Ribbon configuration is available only in Professional and Ultimate editions.

However, some default shortcut keys for adding attributes, operations will be added in one of the next versions.

I will definitely be grateful for some defaults.

Is there anywhere on the development timeline you will allow other editions to edit the keybindings? I can understand restricting menu configuration, but keyboard shortcuts seem like a basic feature.

Thanks,

Ryan

RE:

The restriction will be reevaluated, but it will probably not be until the next major version release.
