native Linux compatible version (#2775)

Hi, i used SIM before on windows, but as i switched to linux i couldnt really find one that was quite as polished.

It would be quite nice if you allowed a linux compatible version (flatpak, AppImage, .deb, .rpm or something else).

This would also allow usage of this software in more developer friendly environments, as windows is in quite a sad state lately.

Thank you for the suggestion and for the kind words about Software Ideas Modeler.

I understand the value of a native Linux version, especially for developers who use Linux as their primary environment. Unfortunately, Software Ideas Modeler is currently built as a .NET WinForms application, and WinForms is tightly coupled to the Windows desktop platform. Because of that, creating a native Linux version would not be only a matter of packaging the current application as Flatpak, AppImage, .deb, or .rpm. It would require a major port or rewrite of the user interface layer to a cross-platform UI framework.

As a possible workaround, you may try running the Windows version of Software Ideas Modeler using Wine. This is not an officially supported configuration at the moment, so some features may not work correctly, especially areas related to rendering, fonts, clipboard, printing, file dialogs, or updates. However, we would be interested in hearing how well it works for you.

At the moment, we cannot commit to a native Linux version or provide an estimated timeline. However, we will keep this request open for tracking interest, and we may reevaluate it in the future if there is enough demand and a technically sustainable path for a cross-platform edition.

Thank you again for the feedback. It is valuable to know that Software Ideas Modeler is missed by users who have moved from Windows to Linux.
