Multiple Diagrams in One with Diagram References

Software Ideas Modeler allows you to create an overview diagram with visual references to other diagrams in the project.

Adding Diagram Reference

The tool Diagram Reference is available in the Common Group in the Toolbox. It allows you to include a diagram to another diagram as an element. You can insert it as any other element (drag & drop the toolbox button to the diagram editor canvas or select the tool and specify the element bounds using drag & drop within the editor canvas).

Diagram Choice

After adding the Diagram Reference element to the diagram, you can enter its name. (However, the name will be overridden after assigning a diagram to the element.) Then you need to associate a diagram from the project to it. Right-click on the Diagram Reference element and choose the Diagrams submenu from the context menu. In the submenu, you can choose whether you want to associate an existing diagram or create a new (nested or independent) diagram that will be associated. You can also drag a diagram from the project tree (in the sidebar) and drop it over the Diagram Reference element and set it this way. The diagram thumbnail will show inside the frame. If you want to depict some relationships between the diagram references you can use the Universal Connector tool from the Drawing toolbox group.
