Some suggestions and a posible bug (#2770)

I’m testing Software Ideas Modeler (trial) and I really like the code generation and modeling features. While working with it, I found a few improvement ideas that could make the tool even more useful for developers and also easier to integrate with AI tools:

Code generation templates in lower editions

Currently template editing is only available in the Ultimate edition. For many developers, being able to slightly customize the generated code (naming conventions, constructor parameters, visibility rules, etc.) is key to evaluating whether the tool really fits their workflow.

A limited template-editing capability in lower editions (e.g. allowing modification of existing templates, or a small number of custom templates per project) could:

Show more of the tool’s real power during the trial.

Encourage more users to upgrade to Ultimate once they rely on that customization.

XMI export for a specific diagram (not the whole project)

The current XMI export dialog lists many elements (classes, associations, mind map elements, etc.) in a way that is a bit hard to filter when you only want data from a single class diagram.

A feature like “Export only current diagram to XMI” or a filter “only elements from ClassDiagramX” would be very helpful when:

Exchanging models with other UML tools.

Exporting a clean subset of the model to be processed by AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT) for code generation or analysis.

Mind map layout – allow nodes on the left side of the start node

In the mind map diagram, new nodes currently appear only on the right side of the start node, and it is not possible to freely place nodes on the left side.

Allowing nodes to be placed on both sides (or enabling a more radial layout) would make mind maps more flexible and visually balanced, and closer to typical mind map tools.
