RE: How to generate C# source code

Hi,

you can generate C# source code the following:

1. use key shortcut CTRL+A to select all items in diagram

2. switch to the Generate tab in the side bar

3. select C# from drop down list

4. click on the Generate

5. the result is in the textbox below

The version 4.0 will offer the improved source code generation - there will be an option to generate source code files from the whole project or from the selected parts.

PNG and PDF Export

Hallo,

when i created a diagram and export as PNG or PDF, the result is not the same, what i see in program.

In PDF i missing text in elements and background colours.

In PNG the background of site is black. So i cannot see lines of arrows, texts of text boxes.

RE: PNG and PDF Export

Hello, the background of exported PNG image is transparent, however, some image viewers can display it as black. The next version will have a dialog for export setting (part of which will be also the setting of background color).

The result of PDF export can be a little different than the diagram rendered in the program, but the missing text is a problem. Could you create a sample file (.simp), for which the problem occurs, and send it to me?

RE: RE: PNG and PDF Export

I managed to identify the PDF export problem. It will be fixed in the next version.

cannot display method name in sequence diagram

Hello, what an amazing project. I have to say I love it very much. However, I've found that when I add a sequence diagram, I couldn't display the method name with Call or Send an action. That makes the diagram trivial. What can I do then?

Thanks

RE: cannot display method name in sequence diagram

Hello, currently there is not available inline editing of method names in sequence diagram actions (it will be in next version).

However, you can set the name through Properties dialog (displays after double-click on action) when you edit the text box Messege in SequenceAction tab page.

The second option is writing the method name in the line below underscores in Fast Editor.

Editing of Sequence Diagram will be also improved in the next version.

Enums and Structs

Hello, I can't seem to get the code generation to correctly generate Enums and Structs.

For that matter, should enums be able to hold operations and attributes? Shouldn't they just contain enumeration constants? (I am using the Enumeration type in class Diagram, seems that I get a class).

Still, an amazing program. I thought I should mention that :)

RE: Enums and Structs

Thanks. It will be definitely solved in one of the next versions (I hope that very soon).

RE: RE: Enums and Structs

I am trying out your product as an alternative to WhiteStarUML. While I like what I see so far, I can't seem to do any reverse engineering at all. I was trying to import the xna.system assembly. There was no error, just an empty model.

My other problem is how to list the enumeration constants? I noticed that you could maybe use some help with the web site. I had to look through 9 pages of posts MANUALLY. You have some usability issues in your documentation, brother. Do you have any interest in a wiki?

RE: RE: RE: Enums and Structs

I'll try to find out where is the problem with reverse engineering of this assembly and fix it as soon as possible.

Enumeration can be created so that you insert Enumeration element from left toolbox (4th button in Class diagram group) and then add attributes (CTRL-SHIFT-A or first button in context bar). If you want to define also value of enumeration constant type it in edit box this way: name = value

I added search boxes to this web site - now you can find what you want faster.

Currently, there is only PDF user guide, but I would like to add a HTML help. I hope it will be soon - within one month or two.

RE: RE: Enums and Structs

Code generation is improved in version 3.20. The source code generation of enumerations and structures is supported in the version 3.20.

Further improvements of code generation are planned for version 4.0.

SIM 3.00 encountered problem after install?

Dear the author of SIM,

I've downloaded the latest version of SIM (ver 3.00) and installed it in my WinXP SP2 , but when I was trying to run it, the 'error reporting' window appeared and told me SIM had encountered a problem. To overcome this problem, what should I do? Does it need another app from MS installed like .NET Framework or something? Thanks for the support.

RE: SIM 3.00 encountered problem after install?

Yes, .NET Framework 3.5 is required to run this application.
