Move Elements Between Diagrams

In this tutorial, we will explore the functionality of moving elements between diagrams. Understanding how to efficiently reorganize elements across diagrams is essential for maintaining a coherent and accessible project structure. This guide is designed to provide a clear, step-by-step walkthrough of the process, ensuring that users can enhance their diagramming workflow with ease.

Step 1: Accessing the Project Tree

First, ensure that the Project sidebar is visible to access the Project tree. If it's not, you can easily display it by going to the ribbon at the top of the interface:

  • Click on the 'View' tab.
  • Choose 'Project Tree' from the 'Sidebars' dropdown menu located in the 'Window' group.

Step 2: Selecting Elements

To move elements, you need to select them first. If the elements are listed individually in the Project tree, you can select multiple items by holding the CTRL key and clicking on each element.

However, if the elements you wish to move are located close together in a diagram, there's a more efficient way. Use the Selection tool in the diagram editor for area selection. Click and drag to draw a selection box around the elements you want to move.

Step 3: Moving the Elements

After selecting the elements, drag them from their current location to the target diagram using the Project tree. This action moves the selected elements to the new diagram.

Step 4: Verifying the Move

Open the target diagram by clicking on it in the Project tree. You should see the elements you moved appear in this diagram. Confirm that they are no longer present in the original diagram.
