Home tab offers the common and most used editing actions, which include work with clipboard, text and element formatting, styling, basic arrange actions, selection, search and replace.

Clipboard Group

Clipboard Group offers actions for clipboard manipulation. It allows you to paste supported content from the system clipboard and copy, cut and also delete selected element(s) in Software Ideas Modeler.

Paste - Inserts the contents of the clipboard (diagram elements, text, image). The Paste button offers more actions after clicking on down-arrow button on the right:

  • Paste as Independent Copy - Inserts the elements from clipboard to the current diagram as indepedent copies which do not share their model with the original copied elements.
  • Paste as New Instance - Inserts the elements from clipboard to the current diagram as new instance of copied elements - they will share the model with the original copied elements. The changes on these copies will be automatically reflected on original elements.

Copy - Copies the selection to the clipboard.

Cut - Removes the selection and copies it to the clipboard.

Delete - Deletes the selection. If diagram elements with single occurence are seleced, it deletes also their models from the project repository.

Font Group

Font Group offers text formatting actions. It allows you to set the selected text bold, italic, underline or strikethrough, let you choose the font and its size. Formatting actions are applied to selected text in documentation editor or if it is possible to selected diagram element.

Font Name - Shows the list of installed fonts and allows to change the font of the selected text.

Font Size - Shows the list of predefined font sizes and allows to change the size of the selected text.

Bold - Makes the selected text bold.

Italic - Makes the selected text italic.

Underline - Underlines the selected text.

Strikethrough - Draws a line over center of the selected text.

Superscript - Makes the selected text smaller and positions it under the text base line.

Subscript - Makes the selected text smaller and positions it slightly above the text line.

Text Color - Sets color of the selected text.

Text Background Color - Sets background color of the selected text.

Paragraph Group

Paragraph Group offers paragraph formatting actions. Using this action, you can set paragraph alignment and indentation, borders, line spacing. You can also switch the paragraph to a numbered or a bulleted list.

Bullets - Adds bullets to the selected paragraphs, or removes them from the selected bulleted paragraphs.

Numbering - Adds numbering to the selected paragraphs, or removes it from the selected numbered paragraphs.

Increase Indent - Increases the indentation of the selected paragraphs from the left margin.

Decrease Indent - Decreases the indentation of the selected paragraphs from the left margin.

Increase Paragraph Spacing - Increases space before and after selected paragraph(s).

Decrease Paragraph Spacing - Decreases space before and after selected paragraph(s).

Align Left - Aligns the selected paragraph(s) to the left page margin.

Center Horizontally - Centers the selected paragraph(s) on the page.

Align Right - Aligns the selected paragraph(s) to the right page margin.

Justified - Aligns the selected paragraph(s) to the left and also right page margin.

Line Spacing - Changes the spacing between lines in the selected paragraph(s).

Borders - Turns on/off borders around the selected paragraph(s) and offers submenu for turning on/off left, right, top and bottom border.

Paragraph Background Color - Changes the background color of the selected paragraph(s).

Styles Group

Styles Group offers a gallery with styles which can be applied to selected elements or formatted text. The gallery dynamically switches between text styles and diagram element styles according the current context. The styles are loaded from an active project style set.

Order Group

Order Group offers basic layout actions like z-ordering, distribution and grouping. It allows you to set which element is the front and which is the back.

Distribute - Shows the submenu with commands for distribution (change of relative position) of the selected element(s).

Bring to Front - Moves the selected element(s) to front of all elements in the current active diagram.

Send to Back - Moves the selected element(s) to back of all elements in the current active diagram.

Back One - Moves the selected element(s) one step backward in the z-order.

Forward One - Moves the selected element(s) one step forward in the z-order.

Group - Groups the selected elements into the single element.

Ungroup - Breaks the selected group(s) of elements to separate elements.

Editing Group

Editing Group offers other actions important for editing. It allows you to find an element, replace some texts and handle the selection.

Find... - Shows the Find dialog, which allows you to search the occurrences of a text in the current project.

Replace... - Shows the Replace dialog, which allows you to search and replace the occurrences of a text in the current project.

Select - Shows the submenu with the various selection options:

  • Select All - Selects all elements in the current diagram.
  • Invert Selection - Inverts the selection – deselects the selected elements and selects the elements which were not selected.
  • Select All Of Same Type - Selects all elements in the current diagram, which have the same type as an already selected element.
  • Select Whole Graph - Selects all elements connected with the selected element.
  • Select Parent Container - Selects the parent container of the selected element.

Previous Selection - Shows the Find dialog, which allows you to search the occurrences of a text in the current project.

Next Selection - Restores the selection which was active after the selection restored by Previous Selection command.
