RE: RE:

Hey I realized that adding language support for code generation is probably very laborious. So I would like to change my suggestion from adding Javascript to instead, creating a script platform that will others (as well) to add or modify existing code generators for various languages - you can see this idea working in Editplus which offers syntax highlighting and a scripting system to define it. There is a huge list of syntax files that have been generated by users and a great choice - it has been successful for them and perhaps might be successful for Software Ideas Modeler.

RE: RE: RE:

Current source code generators are scripted with simple script language yet, but I'm still working on documentation/tutorial for it and on built-in editor (it should be introduced with version 5.0).

I decide to add support for JavaScript source code generation in version 4.81 (released few minutes ago).

Rearranging diagram order

Hi DuĊĦan, I was wondering if you had in plans allowing user to change order in which diagrams are displayed in Hierarchical View and also appear in documentation. I know this is low priority request but it would greatly improve an iterative approach to the design process. At present new diagrams are added to the end of the list and I cannot see a way to arrange them in more logical order.

Cheers,

Max

RE: Rearranging diagram order

Hi,

I added it to my list of requirements. It should be implemented in version 5.0.

Time as actor

You could add another shape for Time as actor to trigger scheduled usecases. Two triangles shaping an X, like hourglass.

RE: Time as actor

Other shapes for stereotyped elements will be supported in version 5.0.

Diagram changed after upgrade

I created a uml class diagram in version 4.5. When I upgraded to 4.60 the diagram has changed!

Any ideas how I can get it back?

RE: Diagram changed after upgrade

Can you provide some details about what exactly has changed, please? I have identified an issue with template parameters loading which would fit your description (this bug will be fixed within one day). But your problem can be something else.

RE: RE: Diagram changed after upgrade

the diagram I had been working on which I saved regularly has reverted back to a version that at a guess is maybe 6 saves previous. In fact most classes and interfaces on the diagram have reverted to previous versions and classes that were added later are now not there. I have to say that this happened also when I updated to 4.50 and I had to redo that particular diagram.

RE: RE: RE: Diagram changed after upgrade

I tried to simulate what could happen. I find a case which is similar to yours - if you save file in 4.50 and open it in older version, some details can disappear. I wasn't able to reproduce mentioned problem - file saved in older version opened in newer version.

Are you sure that:

1) saved and opened file are the same ones?

2) it couldn't cause another installed program?

RE: RE: RE: RE: Diagram changed after upgrade

well I know it is the right file as I have searched and its the only file of that name. I have just redone the diagram, closed the program, opened it 4 hours later and its reverted to the old version again. I havn't used any other applications during this time other than visual studio 2008. any suggestions how I can debug whats happening?

Dusan Rodina - softwareideas.net 7 November 2010 22:26:02

RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Diagram changed after upgrade

And what will happen when you do some modifications of the diagram, save the project, close the program and open the file immediately? Are the changes preserved?

RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Diagram changed after upgr

yes the changes seem to saved in that situation

RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: RE: Diagram changed after

If I take into account all described details of problem, it seems to be caused by overwriting of project file with older version of the file. The older version is maybe open in another running instance of SIM (or it can be also another application - some text editor, XML editor), after some time it is saved, and it causes reverting. Maybe you can check, if there is no interaction from a versioning system (if there is any).

Test Project file.

Do you provide any example projects the illustrates your programs capabilities?

I would be very interested in reviewing a test project to determine if this software would work for us.

Thanks.

RE: Test Project file.

There are only internal test projects. However it's good idea. I will create an example project soon.

RE: RE: Test Project file.

That would be very helpful.

Commercial license

Hello,

Firstly I wanted to say that this program is really great. It feels the best compared to other free tools, it's smooth and easy to use.

I sometimes get some projects to work as a freelancer. I'd like to start using SIM for that, but I believe commercial license is needed.

I've read that making localization file for other languages is one way to get it for free. Is it still possible? I'm interested in making Lithuanian one.

Dusan Rodina - softwareideas.net 5 November 2010 15:03:38

RE: Commercial license

Hello,

thank you. Lithuanian localization doesn't exist yet. If you create it (just translate Language.xml and send me it on softwareideas @ softwareideas.net), lifelong license for commercial use of SIM is yours.
